Web3 Foundation and DEC Institute Launch Blockchain Professional Certificate Programs on edX

The Web3 Foundation, and the DEC Institute (the DEC), announced a collaboration with edx, a leading global online learning platform to help professionals everywhere start or advance a career in blockchain. As part of the Web3 Foundation’s ongoing support for Web3 education, the foundation partnered with the DEC to contribute to creating course content on edX.

As a result, two Professional Certificate programs will launch on edX.org that will put learners on a path towards earning a Chartered Blockchain Analyst (CBA®) or Chartered Digital Asset Analyst (CDAA®) continuing education certificate.

The DEC Professional Certificate programs on edX aim to develop and strengthen vital professional skills required to excel in today's most sought-after fields. The curriculum is created through DEC's collaboration with numerous top-tier blockchain education providers and industry partners.

"This milestone signifies the formalization and professionalization of blockchain and Web3 education, as leading universities and industry players, including Web3 Foundation, collaborate to establish a rigorous international standard," said Bill Laboon, Head of Education and Grants at the Web3 Foundation. Adding that "Education is essential for promoting a decentralized, fair internet through Web3. Expanding access to high-quality education empowers future builders and developers in shaping Web3, instilling confidence in learners and employers about candidates' skillsets."

These Web3 programs are crucial for the job market as they equip professionals with the knowledge and skills required to navigate the rapidly growing blockchain and decentralized technology sectors. As industries increasingly adopt Web3 technologies to enhance security, transparency, and efficiency, the demand for qualified professionals in this domain is surging. By offering Web3 programs, educational institutions contribute to bridging the skills gap, fostering innovation, and enabling individuals to seize career opportunities in this burgeoning field.

The DEC’s first preparatory courses, Chartered Blockchain Analyst - CBA Level 1 and Chartered Digital Asset Analyst - CDAA Level 1, are available now on edX.org. The Level 2 Professional Certificate programs are expected to launch in Summer 2023. These offerings add to edX's catalog of more than 4,000 online learning experiences developed in partnership with the world's top universities and corporations, from free courses to full degrees. The courses will include instructions from experts at top institutions, including: Frankfurt School Blockchain Center, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences & Arts, University College London, Centre for Blockchain Technologies, Politecnico di Milano, School of Management, and The University of British Columbia.

“Eager to capitalize on the potential that Web3 holds, our learners are increasingly looking to gain the skills that are defining the modern technology landscape,” said Andrew Hermalyn, president of partnerships at 2U, the parent company of edX. “As one of the world’s top knowledge resources for blockchain, the DEC is the perfect partner to help edX learners prepare for a dynamic career in a rapidly evolving field.”

“The collaboration between edX, the DEC and the Web3 Foundation makes the power of high-quality blockchain education accessible to everyone and unlocks the transformative potential of Web3 technology,” said the DEC Institute co-founder Arno Pernthaler.
