Aytexcel Pvt. Ltd. has also established an exclusive Formovie Experience Lounge in Mumbai (Bandra West) to provide an immersive experience of the brand's products. In an exclusive interview, Mr. Sushil Motwani, Founder of Aytexcel Pvt. Ltd., and official India Representative of Formovie discussed consumer trends in home entertainment systems and the home entertainment landscape in India.

How do you perceive the prevailing consumer trends in the Indian technology market, especially regarding home entertainment systems?

I believe there is a significant shift in customer preferences towards home entertainment systems, particularly after the pandemic. According to global data and business intelligence platform Statista, the number of active households in the Indian home entertainment market is expected to reach 26.2 million by 2028, with household penetration hitting 7.1 percent by the same year. Key drivers of this growth include technological advancements, rising demand among the middle-income group, and the easy availability of global entertainment content through various OTT platforms. Indian consumers prefer home entertainment systems that offer high-quality visual and audio experiences, providing a theatrical experience in the comfort of their homes.

What drove your decision to enter the consumer technology industry, with a specific emphasis on projectors?

The high adoption rate of projectors in the entertainment industry was a major factor. Previously, projectors were mainly used for business presentations in the corporate sector. However, their use has expanded to education, various industries, media, and most importantly, the home entertainment segment. This expansion presents ample investment opportunities. Additionally, a new category of seamless televisions with built-in smart TV functionality that operates like a projector is gaining popularity. With the growing demand for home cinema theaters among Indians, this demand is likely to increase further. The popularity of annual sporting events like the IPL and WPL in India has also led to the emergence of more private screening centers. Medium-sized restaurants, as well as big hotels, are now considering projector screens instead of TVs.

What factors influenced your choice to bring Formovie projectors into the Indian market?

Formovie's wide range of products and its status as a global leader in providing cutting-edge cinema experiences for homes influenced our decision. As a Mi ecosystem company with a diverse product lineup, Formovie is a leading brand in Laser TV and smart projectors, highly trusted by movie enthusiasts and gamers worldwide. Given the growing preference among Indians for high-quality images and immersive sound systems at home, Formovie is the ideal choice for this consumer segment. Formovie uses ALPD laser technology in their projectors, the same technology used in cinema projection, making it the only brand to bring this technology into home cinema. This is why Aytexcel Pvt. Ltd. decided to become the exclusive retailer and distributor of Formovie smart projectors in India. Additionally, Formovie offers a cost-efficient solution for consumers who desire premium projectors at competitive prices. We have also launched a dedicated Formovie Experience Lounge in Mumbai’s Bandra West, where potential customers can witness the remarkable capabilities of the projector lineup in action. The response has been tremendous, reaffirming our belief in the brand's popularity.

Can you detail how the implementation of ALPD technology in Formovie projectors improves the viewing experience compared to conventional projector technology?

The fundamental difference lies in the light source. Traditional devices rely on sources like High-Intensity Discharge (HID) and high-brightness bulbs. ALPD technology, on the other hand, utilizes laser-excited fluorescent materials and mixed multi-color laser lines for image display, resulting in significantly higher brightness compared to LED and traditional high-brightness bulbs. This technology also reduces space and pixel live viewing, offering an excellent viewing experience while minimizing eye strain and fatigue, especially during prolonged viewing or gaming sessions. Additionally, ALPD technology-powered projectors like the Formovie THEATER consume 30 percent less power compared to LED LCD TVs with similar display sizes.

When creating products, what aspects do you focus on to ensure they align with consumer preferences and expectations?

Three core aspects are crucial when rolling out a product for today’s consumer: higher quality, greater convenience, and an enhanced experience. Today’s generation prefers speed, efficiency, and convenience in carrying the device, along with top-notch sound and visual quality, seamless integration with available streaming platforms, and minimal lag while watching content. Our goal is to offer Formovie products with market-first features that align well with their changing preferences and help them stay technically up-to-date.

What is Formovie's vision for reshaping the home entertainment landscape in India?

Currently, we offer a diverse range of seamless projectors from Formovie, including ultra-short throw projectors and long-throw projectors like Formovie THEATER, C3, R1, R1 Nano, V10, X5, and S5 in India. Almost all of these products have garnered global recognition for their quality, technology, and unique design elements.
