Sify Infinit Spaces Ltd., a prominent Indian data center provider, has announced the inauguration of an AI-ready data center campus in Chennai which will have an eventual capacity of 130 MW. It is also the only data center in India with an on-site open cable landing station.

In a press release the company revealed that the facility will serve as a critical enabler for AI workloads and digital-first enterprises, providing scalable infrastructure and high-performance computing capabilities. Located in the upcoming technology hub of Siruseri, the facility was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru M. K. Stalin, in the presence of Hon’ble Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Thiru T. M. Anbarasan and Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Investment promotion & Commerce, Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa.

“With our cumulative investment now crossing ₹10,000 crore from an initial commitment of ₹2,500 crore, we are not only building digital infrastructure but also creating an ecosystem of opportunity,” said Raju Vegesna, Chairman & Managing Director, Sify Technologies Ltd., adding, “We envision generating employment for 10,000 people—direct and indirect— as this facility ramps up. This data center isn’t just infrastructure—it’s a strategic digital gateway for enterprises and governments aiming to harness AI, cloud, and high-speed data solutions.”

The company further said that this platinum-rated Green Data Center is recognized with four ratings from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), and that Sify aspires to power the Siruseri data center entirely with renewable energy and manage it using sustainable building management practices.

Sify, that provided India’s first Indian private ISP in 1998, went on to become a Fortune 500 company. It has been listed on NASDAQ since 1999, only the second such Indian company. Today, Sify’s operations are in the digital transformation space, and its global service capabilities span data center, cloud, networks, security and digital services. Sify has a total of 11 data centers located in NOIDA, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Chennai. They serve a wide variety of customers hailing from sectors as diverse as banking, healthcare, social media, FMCG and OTT.

Over the last few months the company has revealed ambitious growth plans for India. Just recently, it announced the launch of its AI-Hub data center in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The facility, located within the HCL IT City campus on Sultanpur Road, will be developed in four phases, with the first phase set to become operational by June 2025.
