NTT DATA Named a Leader in NelsonHall NEAT Report for Healthcare Payer Operational Transformation

NTT DATA, a global digital business and IT services provider, announced that it has been named a Leader in NelsonHall's 2023 NEAT vendor evaluation for Healthcare Payer Operational Transformation. The NelsonHall Vendor Evaluation & NelsonHall Assessment Tool (NEAT) report evaluated the performance of 14 vendors based on their ability to deliver immediate benefits to clients and meet future client technology requirements in several areas, including the management of care, claims, member services and provider services.

NelsonHall ranked NTT DATA as a Leader in each of the report's three categories: for overall healthcare payer operational transformation as well as specific market segments for member services and care management. Leaders in the overall category were recognized for their ability to develop and deliver complex digital transformation strategies based on the use of advanced analytics. Member services and care management evaluations considered vendors' abilities to apply customer experience transformation and operations to customer enrollment, ongoing customer service and care management tactics, such as nursing support.

Among NTT DATA's strengths, NelsonHall listed the company's advanced Business Process as a Service (BPaaS) capability, its strong self-service support for health plan members through the company's Digital Consumer Marketplace and Engagement platform, and the effective integration of NTT DATA's broker portal platform module with clients' CRM systems to manage member application and enrollment processes.

"NTT DATA has streamlined its focus on services that highlight value-based care, interoperability and advanced digital capabilities," said Tanvir Khan, President of the Health Plan and Life Sciences business and Chief Digital Officer at NTT DATA Services. "By providing a modular digital health ecosystem that leverages AI, automation and predictive analytics, NTT DATA is enabling health plans to move beyond back-office services to drive tangible outcomes for their business and their members."

To help health plans manage digital interactions with members, employers and brokers, NTT DATA has developed a digital health solution that combines internal and partner technologies in automation, document processing, RPA and business process management.

In the report, NelsonHall credited NTT DATA with moves it has made to enhance its automation and AI offerings through the development of proprietary solutions, strategic hiring, expanded partnerships and acquisitions of digital vendors such as ServiceNow consultancy Acorio and design and transformation services provider NETE. The analyst firm also highlighted NTT DATA's continued development of BPaaS services and telehealth solutions that focus on mental health and incorporating digital customer experience tools and practices.

"As health plan clients look to improve efficiencies, cut costs and collaborate better with stakeholders, they need a partner that can help them unlock the strategic benefits of operational transformation," said Kaz Nishihata, Senior Executive Vice President & Representative Director at NTT DATA Corporation. "We believe being named a Leader in NelsonHall's NEAT evaluation for healthcare payer transformational services shows that our 50 years of healthcare experience, combined with our robust tools help to empower workforces, automate data, streamline business operations and simplify overall healthcare journeys, are delivering the kind of value our clients need to compete in today's rapidly changing healthcare landscape."

NelsonHall projects the global healthcare payer business process services (BPS) market to grow 5% a year from $10.4 billion in 2023 to $12.0 billion in 2026. Operational transformation is expected to account for over 40% of the market value by 2026.

"NTT DATA is well-placed to support healthcare payers in their process transformation, offering a comprehensive range of BPaaS components for end-to-end digital healthcare transformation," said John Willmott, CEO, NelsonHall. "NTT DATA is also well placed to assist healthcare payers in transforming member experience by use of its member engagement platform. This provides multichannel access and support, allowing members to go beyond viewing their health information and search for in-network providers and connect their wellness program activities."
