HCLTech Completes $225 Mn Acquisition Of HPE’s Communications Technology Group Assets

HCLTech has completed its acquisition of select assets from the Communications Technology Group (CTG), a division of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). The deal is valued at USD 225 million (approximately Rs 1,870 crore) and was finalised after being initially announced in May this year.

As part of the acquisition, HCLTech has taken on approximately 1,500 engineering specialists and 700 contractors, expanding its talent pool to deliver solutions for Communications Service Providers (CSPs) across key global markets, including Spain, Italy, Romania, Japan, China, India, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region. The addition of this talent is expected to support CSPs with advanced methodologies and nearshore delivery capabilities, enhancing the company’s global footprint.

In a statement, Anil Ganjoo, Chief Growth Officer, TMT industries, at HCLTech said, “We are excited to welcome the talented professionals and leadership team from CTG, whose expertise will be instrumental in driving our shared success. By combining our engineering strengths with CTG’s advanced capabilities, we will enhance our partnerships with leading global CSPs, accelerate the growth of our digital services and expand our global footprint.”

The acquisition also brings to HCLTech a decent portfolio of intellectual property, solutions, and services across business support systems (BSS), network applications, service cloudification, and data intelligence. These capabilities are expected to bolster the company’s offerings in cutting-edge telecom technologies while providing strategic value to its CSP clients.

“We are pleased to have found a partner in HCLTech with appreciation for CTG’s significant legacy and future potential,” said Marie Myers, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

“ Now that the HCLTech acquisition is complete, we look forward to CTG’s successes being nurtured and grown as part of HCLTech as well as in continuing our HPE commitment to the telecoms market,” she added.
