Google Expands Gemini AI Suite With Faster, Cheaper Enterprise Models
Google has expanded its Gemini artificial intelligence (AI)
portfolio with the launch of Gemini 3.6 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite and Gemini
3.5 Flash Cyber, strengthening its range of enterprise-focused AI models. The
latest additions aim to deliver faster performance, lower costs and enhanced
cybersecurity capabilities, while the absence of a Gemini 3.5 Pro model marks a
notable shift in the company's AI release strategy. The latest updates
have been made in line with Google’s approach towards building customised AI
models to suit the various business needs, such as inference at speed,
cost-effective deployment and cybersecurity.
This is being done as the various technology
players compete with one another to carve out an increased market share in the
growing enterprise AI market, where the demand for generative AI products keeps
increasing.
According to the predictions made by IDC, the
total worldwide expenditure on AI-focused systems would cross the USD 300
billion mark by 2027, and Gartner has stated that over 80 per cent of
businesses would have integrated generative AI-based applications and APIs by
2026.
The
new Gemini 3.6 Flash is said to be a high-performance version that will offer
faster reasoning and help with large AI tasks. The Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite will
enable businesses to save on computational costs related to affordable AI
inference, whereas the Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber will help in
cybersecurity-related functions.
According to industry
experts, AI models are now becoming more critical because businesses now care
about efficiency as opposed to the size of an AI model they deploy for all
tasks.
The new launches from Google
have come at a time when the pressure on it from companies like OpenAI, Anthropic,
Microsoft, among others that are competing to launch their own generative AI
models in enterprises is increasing. The failure to bring out Gemini 3.5 Pro is
a pointer to the fact that Google wants to focus on bringing out
enterprise-ready models as opposed to flagships.
Enterprise AI is said to be one of the key growth drivers for technology in
general, leading to increased spending on cloud, software, and cybersecurity.
With enterprises adopting AI technology in customer service, software
development, and security operations, the demand for infrastructure to support
such activities will continue to grow.
