G-Shock 2500 Series Arrives In India
Casio India has introduced the G-Shock 2500 Series in the
country, announcing it at a media event in New Delhi on 23 October 2026. The
collection is built around two families: the resin-bodied GAC-2500 and the
metal-clad GMC-2500. Both take their cue from the DW-5000C, the first G-Shock
ever made, and reinterpret its square-faced toughness through a compact, fully
analogue design.
This
is an unusual G-Shock which has gotten the nickname ‘Casionaut’ because of its
resemblance to the Patek
Phillipe Nautilus. There is no digital display, no solar charging, and no
Bluetooth. What you get instead is a simple, tough, good-looking time-and-date
watch with a clever new date mechanism, and that framing matters when deciding
whether it is the right G-Shock for you. Here is a detailed look at what the
series offers, how the models differ, what is missing, and who should consider
buying which one.
Casio says the series is guided by a concept it calls "Depth in
Shadow". In practice, that means sculpted surfaces, a dial with real
dimensional layering and sharply defined hour indexes, all meant to create a play
of light and shadow across the face. The dial is a moulded plastic part shaped
so that it reads as three-dimensional rather than flat.
The silhouette keeps the octagonal front bezel that G-Shock fans
know from the 5000 and 5600 families, but the contours are softer and more
rounded than the original. The result has drawn comparisons with a certain
luxury steel sports watch, and enthusiasts abroad have already nicknamed the
series the 'Casionaut' for its resemblance to the Patek Philippe Nautilus, as mentioned
earlier. Casio itself does not use that nickname, and it is worth stating
plainly that this is a fan label, not an official one.
On
size, the resin GAC-2500 measures 46.7 x 44.5 x 12.7 mm, while the
metal-covered GMC-2500 and GMC-2500D measure 46.7 x 43.8 x 12.9 mm. Casio
describes the proportions as compact, and by the brand's usual standards they
are slim. Anyone who finds the typical G-SHOCK too bulky for a shirt cuff will
want to try this on.
