Flinders launches AI Accelerator in partnership with Google Cloud

Flinders University graduates are set to become among the most AI-ready in the nation, with the launch of the Flinders AI Accelerator in Partnership with Google Cloud.

The Flinders AI Accelerator is the first university-based AI Accelerator in Australia formally established in partnership with Google Cloud, providing students with direct access to cutting-edge AI training, tools and expertise.

Combining degree studies with practical AI skills and industry-recognised certifications, the initiative will help prepare students for the jobs of the future.

As artificial intelligence reshapes workplaces across health, business, education, engineering and government, employers are seeking graduates who can confidently apply emerging technologies alongside critical thinking, creativity and professional judgement.

The partnership will help equip Flinders students with capabilities that will be increasingly valued across industries and preparing them to thrive in an AI-enabled economy.

Using Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise, 30,000 Flinders students will have access to AI tools and learning opportunities, helping them build practical skills alongside the knowledge gained in their chosen fields of study. Students will be able to leverage Gemini Enterprise to brainstorm research topics, summarise academic materials and analyse and synthesise data, helping them build the critical AI skills in an environment backed with enterprise-grade security protections.

In collaboration with Google, students in the final stages of their degree will be the first to receive access to Google Career Certificates and Career Essential courses, strengthening their employability. These industry-recognised, self-paced courses can be completed alongside university and help learners gain access to in-demand digital skills with no experience required.

The partnership positions Flinders among a growing number of leading universities globally embedding AI capability into the student experience.

It also creates opportunities for Flinders and Google Cloud to collaborate on how emerging technologies can support teaching, learning, research and community engagement in ways that are practical, ethical and focused on real-world impact.
