Authorium Appoints Amy Tong to Board of Advisors to Lead National Push on Innovation-Driven Procurement
Authorium, the
cloud-based technology platform that automates and improves complex government
processes, announces that Amy Tong has been appointed to Authorium's Board of
Advisors. Tong will help lead a national effort to make government procurement
a place where innovative companies and public agencies can actually find each
other, and will help shape the company's artificial intelligence (AI) strategy
for the public sector.
Amy
Tong is a respected government innovator and AI leader who served in executive
leadership roles during two different governor administrations. During her over
25 year tenure as a civil servant, she rose through the ranks and was appointed
as State Chief Information Officer, where she led a $67B portfolio and 22,000
employees, and later both the Secretary of CA GovOps and Senior Counselor to
California's Governor, for strategy and leadership to tackle the State's
toughest challenges. Among her many accomplishments, she led the nation's first
statewide Generative AI policy and implementation rollout.
"I've
spent my career pushing government to adopt technology that actually works for
the people using it," said Amy
Tong. "The real bottleneck in procurement is that the
demand side and the supply side never meet. Agencies do not want the same three
bidders, and the companies with the best ideas cannot get through the door.
Authorium is the only team I have seen with both the platform and the track
record to fix that, and I am joining to help take it national."
The
problem in government procurement is not process alone. It is that supply and
demand do not meet. Agencies with hard problems struggle to reach past the same
handful of large incumbents, while capable small and mid-sized companies,
including the wave of narrowly focused AI tools now reaching the market, cannot
find the door or afford the cost of knocking on it. Authorium is building the
curated space where both sides show up: agencies publish challenge statements
in a standard format, qualified suppliers are surfaced to the agencies whose problems
they actually match, and AI helps both sides do the work of writing,
responding, and evaluating. The more the network is used, the better the
matching gets.
